Essential oil eye mask for the Zoom-tired eyes
There is no doubt that many of us have been spending way more time in front of our screens compared to the pre-pandemic life. Every little message at work now has to be done over chats/emails, and every friend/family gathering has to be facetimed. And how do you entertain yourself at night? Movies on the big screen (at least for me).
Needless to say, our eyes are tired. Our eyes aren’t built for this kind of lifestyle, and it’s no surprise that many people today often suffer from eye strain or visual stress.
Here’s how essential oils can help you recover from those Zoom-tired eyes ⇊⇊
What you need:
- Natural fabric material (large enough to cover your eyes), such as cotton or muslin
- Unbleached coffee paper
- Witch hazel (2 tablespoons or 30ml)
- Mineral or filtered water (250ml + 100ml)
- 2 small glass container with lid
- Pure lavender essential oil
Note before you begin:
Never, EVER, put essential oils directly in the eyes, even if they’re diluted!!
Step 1:
In the glass jar, mix 5 drops of lavender essential oil and 2 tablespoon of witch hazel. Mix well, then add 250ml of mineral water. Shake well.
Step 2:
Filter above mixture through a coffee filter twice, into the other glass jar. You may refrigerate this mixture for up to 7 days.
Step 3:
When ready to use, take a tablespoon of the mixture and dilute it with 100ml of water. Soak the natural fabric with the mixture and place it over your eyes for 10 minutes. Squeeze out any excess moisture. Your eyes must be kept shut the entire time.
Pro tip: you can keep the soaked eye mask in the fridge for additional cooling effect!
